ELEMENTS & ITEMS

SCORE MULTIPLIER

The score multiplier kicks in when you kill an enemy and continues to rise with additional kills. While active, your score will be multiplied by the number displayed. The time you keep the multiplier is limited (about 10 seconds) so act fast to get the combo as high as possible!

WALLS

Ordinary Walls are the static structures that help define caves.

Neither Rockford™ nor Crystal™ can pass through them. They have rounded corners, which explains why boulders sometimes roll off of them. Ordinary Walls are destroyed by explosions.

TITANIUM WALLS

Titanium walls are indestructible and look different from ordinary walls.

DIRT

Dig dirt to clear your path by simply walking through it, or by using the “Push/Grab/ Dig without moving” command. Boulders will not roll off of dirt.

DIAMONDS

Diamonds are collected by walking through them. When you’ve collected enough of them, the cave’s exit will open. Diamonds fall just like Boulders. They crush enemies but not you, except in Retro Mode where they do!

BOULDERS

Falling Boulders are lethal! Walk up to a boulder and push against it to move it left or right; or, use the “Push/Grab/Dig without moving” command. When perched on top of Diamonds, other Boulders or certain Walls, Boulders will roll off. Crush enemies with falling Boulders to increase your score!

HEAVY BOULDERS

Heavy Boulders act the same as regular Boulders but are too heavy to push. Use the Telescopic Arm to move them with ease!

ENERGY BONUS

Collect this to fully restore your energy. Isn’t it great being a robot?

SPEED BOOST

This greatly increases your speed for a short time.

BONUS TIME

Need more time? Keep a look out for this essential item!

TELESCOPIC ARM CHARGER

The charger allows you to use the Telescopic Arm once. The charger will reappear after a short while, so extend that arm as much as possible!

KEYS AND DOORS

Keys come in three colors, and each Key opens all doors matching its color. Look at the bottom screen to see which Keys you’re currently holding

TELEPORTER

Step right in to be transported to another Teleporter of the same color.

ONE WAY DOOR

Once you pass through to the other side, there’s no coming back! However, you can stand in this Doorway.

DYNAMITE & DETONATOR

TNT can be pushed and moved without exploding. When you’re ready, use the Detonator to blow up all of the Dynamite in the cave, destroying most nearby items.

MAGIC MACHINE

When Boulders fall into this machine, they turn into Diamonds! Unfortunately, it also turns Diamonds into Boulders. The machine won’t work if something is directly underneath it.

EXPANDING WALL

Only found in certain Retro caves, it looks like an ordinary wall, but starts expanding when nothing is blocking it. Be careful not to get trapped!

MAGIC WALLS

Like the Magic Machine in Arcade Mode, Magic Walls in Retro Mode convert Boulders into Diamonds or visa versa. Be sure to clear space below the Magic Wall and act quickly ….  these turn off after a while and can only be activated once in any play session.

ENEMIES

FUZZY FLY

Flies in a straight path. It’s easily outsmarted by your magnificent robot brain.

WILD WALKER

These guys walk endlessly from left to right and then right to left, falling down when there’s nothing underneath them.

FUZZY WALKER

This nasty guy likes turning left at every opportunity and sticks close to the walls as a result.

AMOEBA

This pest keeps growing, eating any dirt that gets in the way. While harmless in itself, the Amoeba can easily trap you and also turns into Boulders if it grows too large. It will not harm you, so surround the Amoeba by blocking its way with Boulders or yourself so it can’t grow anymore and it will turn into Diamonds!

TRAPPER

The Trapper leaves a trail of tranquilizing mines that briefly paralyze you.

DREADFUL DRILLER

Happily digs through Dirt, Boulders and Diamonds, mostly just to annoy you. Don’t let it destroy too many Diamonds before you collect them!

RADICAL RADIATOR

Keep your distance or the radiation leaking from this walking reactor will hurt you.

HOPPER

There’s no place this extra-nasty beast can’t reach. Unlike other enemies, they are not blocked by walls. All you can do is run for your frail, robotic little life!

SINISTER STALKER

Thought the caves were creepy enough without these things running around? Try to stay out of their sight as they will attack you if you come too close to them!

BOLD BERSERKER

They attack anything crossing their path, destroying Boulders and Diamonds alike. Luckily they can’t turn around while running.

FIREFLY

Stalking only in Retro Mode caves, Fireflies always turn to their left if possible. Watch out – crushing one with a boulder will cause an explosion!

BUTTERFLY

Flying around only in Retro Mode caves, Butterflies turn right whenever possible. Crush them with Boulders to create Diamonds and earn extra diamonds! They will also turn into Diamonds if they come in contact with the growing Amoeba.

GAME MODES

ARCADE

Explore these 100 caves and collect the right number of Diamonds while avoiding Boulders and Enemies to unlock the exit. But hurry .… the clock is ticking! The difficulty increases with each new cave and more Enemies and challenges will emerge as you progress. After completing a cave successfully, a green checkmark will appear next to it in the cave list. If you complete a level perfectly, a gold checkmark will appear. If you get stuck in a cave, just press and choose “Retry”.

PUZZLE

The 25 caves in Puzzle Mode allow you to collect Diamonds and find the Exit without the pressure of the clock. Puzzle caves have no time limit; and, you can restart a cave as many times as you like, if you get trapped or killed. The caves in Puzzle Mode must be played in sequence; but, once a cave has been won, it is unlocked and can be replayed at any time.

ZEN

Aahhhh …. take a deep breath and relax. Zen Mode allows you to play the caves from Arcade Mode without any time limit. This is your chance to plan new strategies for increasing your score for caves in Arcade Mode. Just remember: the progress made in Zen Mode will not be transferred to Arcade Mode.

SCORE

Score Mode features four huge levels that are especially designed to reward skillful play! It also features extra ways to chain attacks and kill enemies. Here, only one diamond is required to open the cave’s Exit. Reaching the Exit in time will get you a bonus depending on the time left (each second left is worth 10 points), so you’ll need to work out a strategy in order to find the right balance between collecting and chaining as many diamonds as possible and reaching the Exit in time.

RETRO

Retro Mode pays homage to the very first, original Boulder Dash®, with 3D-Interpretations of those much loved retro graphics. These 25 cave designs and scoring are also very reminiscent of the original.
